Fabian Scheidler
How we can stop creating our own enemies
Sunday, February 15, 2026 | 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Salesianum St.-Wolfgangs-Platz 11(hall access Sieboldstr. 11), Munich
We invite you to come to a matinee at the Salesianum from 10.30 am. Coffee, pretzels and something sweet will be offered
Fabian Scheidler will give a lecture from his book “Friedenstüchtig”, supplemented by selected text passages and with time for audience questions and discussion.
The focus is on Scheidler’s latest book, Friedenstüchtig, in which he critically analyses the increasing militarization of politics and society.
Fabian Scheidler shows how images of the enemy are created politically and why military logics do not create security, but instead generate new violence. Instead of a permanent state of emergency, he argues for an active peace policy based on cooperation, global justice and democratic control.
The book reading Friedenstüchtig invites you to question security policy narratives and to rethink peace as a formable political task.
Please note: The book reading will be held exclusively in German.
