The German government plans to purchase technically immature stealth bombers to enable the German Air Force to drop U.S. nuclear bombs in the future. The German Peace Association – United War Resisters (DFG-VK) lists arguments against the nuclear bomber armament costing about 5 billion Euros.

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in violation of international law, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced the largest rearmament program for the German military since World War II. The military budget is soon expected to exceed NATO’s two percent target each year. Measured against today’s gross domestic product, this would then amount to around 70 billion euros. In addition, the SPD-Green-FDP federal government is providing the Bundeswehr with “special assets” amounting to 100 billion euros – an almost unimaginable sum. This windfall is putting the military in a buying mood, and arms companies are sensing enormous profits.
