Peace organizations are protesting against the German government’s planned “Military Service Modernization Act”. The protest will take place within sight of the public hearing of the Bundestag’s Defense Committee on the law.
According to the draft law already passed by the Federal Cabinet, not only will all young people receive promotional letters from the army (and young men will be forced to fill out a questionnaire), but there are also plans for a new military registration, military surveillance and the compulsory conscription of young people.
Peace organizations are calling on the Federal Government to stop the military service plans. Further armament will not lead to greater security, but will only result in an expensive and dangerous spiral of armament.
