Automated wars, dehumanized victims
Event on AI-controlled killing by the Israeli military
Wednesday, July 10, 2025 | 7:00 p.m.
Hansa Haus, Brienner Straße 39, 80333 Munich
Since October 2023, the Israeli military has been using artificial intelligence on an unprecedented scale in the Gaza war. AI systems such as Lavender, Gospel or Where’s Daddy take on central tasks in target selection, surveillance and killing – often without human control. The automated systems analyze movement and telephone data, create kill lists with thousands of names and specifically calculate civilian victims. According to international media reports, the Israeli military is working closely with US tech companies to create a military kill cloud.
This development sets a dangerous precedent: the threshold for fully automated warfare is being crossed – with serious implications for human rights and international law.
The event informs and discusses:
- What role do AI systems play in the current Gaza war?
- How does automation change military decision-making processes?
- What does it mean when algorithms decide over life and death?
