With this newsletter, I would like to warmly welcome you to the With the Kick-off event “What path will Europe take?” on Friday evening, February 16th, 2024from 7 p.m., the focus will be on Europe’s current political challenges: the war in Ukraine (Michael von der Schulenburg, former German diplomat), the often disregarded human right to conscientious objection (Olga Karatch) and the Common European Asylum System (Clare Daly, MEP). A diverse Workshop program on Saturday morning, February 17th, 2024, from 10 to 12 am. will delve deeper into the topics I “NO means NO” conscientious objection in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine with Olga Karach, II Survival means resistance: on the consequences and victims of nuclear weapons tests with Juliane Hauschulz, Stella Ziegler IPPNW e.V. and III the peace movement and the demarcation from the “right”. The Panel discussion “Peace in Progress: Alternatives to militarism and capitalism” on Saturday evening, February 17th, 2024, at 6 pm. shows alternatives to the prevailing logic of war: the defense of pacifism in times like these (Prof. Dr. Olaf Müller), the practical effects of colonialism from the perspective of the Global South (Dr. Mabanza Bambu) as well as the opportunities of a non-aligned world and its conditions in the economic and financial world (Prof. Dr. Yanis Varoufakis). The evening events will be streamed LIVE. We offer simultaneous interpreting for the English contributions. We are planning a matinee with the peace activists Rotem Levin and Osama Elewat from the Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative Combatants for Peace on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a film and discussion. The Prayer for Peace of Religions on Sunday, February 18th, 2024, at 6 pm in the House of Cultures and Religions concludes the program of the 22nd International Munich Peace Conference.
