Prof. Dr. Hanne-Margret Birckenbach will speak on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 6.30 p.m. at the Munich Peace Conference, smartvillage, Rosenkavalierplatz 13, Arabellapark
Thinking the peace commandment in terms of peace logic
(Lecture 14.02.2025) The call for peace has become suspect. Some have appropriated it for ideological and political purposes, while others dismiss it as the naive or even dangerous rapture of dreamers. Both tendencies are a burden on the work of the peace movement. This makes it all the more important to combine criticism of militarization processes with knowledge of real possibilities and practicable peace processes. This is in line with the peace imperative of the Basic Law. Even though governments, parties and the media in Germany are not very oriented towards this, the concept of peace is not an empty shell. It is a norm whose content and implementation is the subject of political negotiations and empirical research worldwide. As a result, we now know a lot about how peace works and how security policy can be shaped in a way that is compatible with peace. The peace-logic principles of action provide information on what, according to current knowledge, must be taken into account if peace is to be the result of conscious action in politics and society.
Becoming peaceable. The principle of dialog compatibility
(Workshop on 15.02.2025)
The workshop is about the connection between the principles of peace logic. The emphasis is on what the principle of dialogue compatibility means in concrete situations. What do we mean by a dialogical approach, what does it contribute to the prevention of violence, conflict transformation, the development of interests and error-friendly learning? How does it work in specific cases?
