Contact with the Gaza Strip has been interrupted since around 6:00 p.m. on October 27, after landline, mobile and Internet services were cut off. As a result, this flash update contains minimal updated information about the humanitarian situation in Gaza over the last 24 hours. – The telecommunications shutdown has completely derailed the already difficult delivery of humanitarian aid and deprived people of life-saving information. As United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk noted on October 28, “the bombing of telecommunications infrastructure puts civilians in grave danger. Ambulances and civil defense teams are no longer able to find the injured or the thousands of people estimated to still be under the rubble. Civilians are no longer able to get up-to-date information on where they can access humanitarian assistance and where they may be less vulnerable.”
