Press release dated February 8, 2024 from the Munich Peace Conference Sponsors’ Group: Save the International Munich Peace Conference!
Since 2005, for almost 20 years, the International Munich Peace Conference has been sponsored by the City of Munich. The cooperation with the cultural department has been trusting all these years. In 2022, second mayor Katrin Habenschaden gave the welcoming address. Together with Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter, we drew up the Munich Appeal “Set the course now for the abolition of all nuclear weapons”. What has changed now?
We received no indication that anything had changed. On the contrary, we were verbally promised the subsidy again this year. Over the years, we have found the city of Munich to be a reliable partner. It would be a devastating signal to the city’s society if we could no longer rely on the promises made by the City of Munich.
