“Cold war – hot war – nuclear war”

For a long time, there was a supposed “balance of terror” to prevent a nuclear war between the USA and Russia. But the arms control treaties were terminated. Both the offensive weapons and the defensive systems are being modernized. The concept of deterrence was gradually changed. According to the Pentagon’s concepts, deterrence now includes both the preventive attack on the enemy’s nuclear weapons and the comprehensive defense against attacks. The war in Ukraine is still a limited war.
