Object War CampaignAction week from December 5-10, 2023

Starting tomorrow, more than 40 peace groups from all over Europe will be holding events and campaigns until “International Human Rights Day” on December 10, 2023: They are calling for reception and protection for all those fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Since the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine in February 2022, more than 250,000 conscripts have left Russia – they do not want to fight in the war against Ukraine. Since the start of the war, at least 300,000 conscripts have fled Ukraine to escape conscription – some of them to Germany, where they are currently only granted protection until March 2025. There are also thousands of conscripts in Belarus.

To call for an end to the persecution of conscientious objectors and deserters in their countries of origin and to increase pressure on the German government and the EU to accept conscripts, numerous events and protests will be held in more than 20 European cities in the week leading up to International Human Rights Day – from December 5 to 10, 2023 – including in Frankfurt am Main, Bremen, Tampere, Düsseldorf, Bonn, London, Cologne, Berlin, Athens and Hamburg.
